EMS TRANSMISSION 02/21/2007 Information Bulletin No. 2007-044 To: State Directors Attn: Education Coordinators From: Chief, Education and Volunteers Division Subject: BLM Education Program Reporting DD: 04/15/2007 As part of the development of a new Education Strategy for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Education and Volunteers Division is compiling FY 2006 data on BLM education programs at the field office level. Information collected will be used in the 2006 Annual Update on Education in BLM. This update will cover recurring or ongoing education programs of which BLM is a sponsor or cosponsor. These include:
The purpose of this directive is to solicit data on these two types of programs. Data that was submitted in the 2005 Education Program Survey is being used as the basis for 2006 reporting. Each State Education Coordinator will receive by separate email two PDF documents that summarize data provided by Field Offices in 2005. One file focuses on school-related programs; the other focuses on programs for non-school audiences. It is requested that the information about programs listed in these documents be updated for Fiscal Year 2006. In addition, coordinators will also receive two MS Word files to use for programs that were not reported in 2005. These are forms that are designed to be filled in—again one for school-related programs; one for non-school programs. Please follow the attached directions for compiling State reports. Once information is collected from field offices, the hard-copy forms and electronic files with new program data should be sent by FedEx to: Betsy Wooster BLM Education & Volunteers Division 1620 L Street N.W. – Room 406 Washington, DC 20036 Phone: 202-452-7731 The deadline for submitting information to the Washington Office is April 15, 2007. This data is extremely important to achieving the goals outlined in our forthcoming Strategy. In addition, BLM and the Department continue to stress the importance of accurate data. Thanks in advance to you and your field offices for helping to complete this comprehensive survey of education programs in BLM. We are looking forward to sharing the results of the survey with you and with others. Questions may be directed by e-mail to Elizabeth_wooster@blm.gov.
