Subject:            Request for Research and Development (R&D) Project Information for Fiscal Year (FY) - 2008 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Budget Justification                                                                                                                                      DD: 01/31/2007

 

To fulfill our R&D requirements for the FY 2008 Budget Justification, please submit the requested information no later than January 31, 2007. The R&D information submitted will be used to construct the R&D Section of the BLM's annual Budget Justification document, which we understand will be prepared in December 2006. The R&D Information for the Budget Justification is needed from each State Office and Center. For complete instructions on preparing this information see Attachment 1. Please use the Excel file (Attachment 2) provided to electronically submit your tabular information. It is important that only the three worksheets in Attachment 2 be used to ensure BLM-wide consistency. Attachment 3 provides definitions of Research and Development for your use in preparing this information. In addition to electronically submitting Attachment 2, please submit short paragraphs describing four or five project examples for your State or Center for us to include in the Budget Justification. Attachments 4 and 5 provide examples of the required information. For your information and review, last year's BLM Budget Justification for R&D can be accessed at: http://budget.blm.gov/budgetdocuments/Justifications/2007/2007researchanddevelop.pdf.

 

The information you provide will also be used to fulfill other reporting requirements for the Office of Management and Budget, the National Science Foundation and the Department R&D Council. We hope that having this information available in this format, along with example project narratives, will reduce the number of data calls imposed on the field.
