The purpose of this memo is to request Bureau of Land Management nominations for two prestigious Department of the Interior Safety Awards for 2007. The two categories are:

 

            Award of Merit         

 

These safety awards recognize safety and health program contributions that are of significant benefit to the Department. Subject areas for recognition include: accident and injury reduction; fostering a safety and health culture; identification and abatement of unsafe conditions; providing safety and health resources; encouraging safety program accountability; and promoting safety and health awareness. Other safety and health contributions will be considered based on the professional judgment of the DOI Safety and Health Council.

 

Recognizes an individual, group, bureau, office, or organizational unit which has performed an outstanding service for, or made a contribution of unusual value to the Department’s Safety and Occupational Health Program.

 

Recognizes a safety professional (series 0018, 0690, 0803) who has demonstrated sustained accomplishments in injury, illness, and accident prevention and who has contributed quality service to his/her bureau, office, or the Department during his/her career.

Your nominations should be submitted by December 15, 2006, to Sandy Guches, Bureau Safety Manager (WO-740). The nominations will be reviewed and selections made by the DOI Safety Council.
