EMS TRANSMISSION 08/10/2006 Information Bulletin No. 2006-113 To: All Field Officials From: Assistant Director, Minerals, Realty & Resource Protection Subject: 2006 Bureau of Land Management Gary Bauer Memorial Award for a Facility Engineer and Engineering Technician DD: 09/15/2006 The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting nominations for the 2006 Gary Bauer Memorial Award to recognize a BLM facilities engineer and a facilities engineering technician. The Award is presented biannually to recognize a BLM facilities engineer and engineering technician for their outstanding contribution and achievements in implementing BLM’s facilities program. The award was established in 2002 in honor of Gary Bauer’s memory. The awards (plaque and monetary reward), will be presented to the recipients at a ceremony at the Engineering Advisory Team meeting in 2007. The nomination procedures and nomination format are contained in the attachment. Nominations for the award will be accepted from all levels of the organization and will be reviewed by a panel whose recommendations will provide the basis for the selection of each honoree by the Assistant Director, Minerals, Realty and Resource Protection. Candidates for Facilities Engineer of the Year must be either a BLM facilities related engineer, architect, or facilities manager engineer. Candidates for Facilities Engineering Technician must be a BLM facilities related engineering technician. A minimum of two (2) award nominations per state is requested to ensure sufficient numbers in the nominee pool. Nominations should be submitted electronically via your State Director to Nancy Dean, Division Chief, Engineering & Environmental Services Division, WO-360, and copy to Linda Force, Senior Engineer, WO-360. The due date is September 15, 2006. Questions regarding the awards may be directed to Linda Force at (202)-557-3567. Districts with Unions are reminded to notify their unions of this IB and satisfy any bargaining obligations before implementation.
