Subject:       Progress on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Washington Office (WO) Business and Fiscal Resources Directorate (WO-800) Priorities and Action Plan

 

In October 2004, WO-800 issued Information Bulletin No. 2005-013 outlining a set of priorities and actions that arose from discussions with the Executive Leadership Team and Field Committee members and their staffs and the General Management Evaluation of the WO-800 Directorate. 

 

During Fiscal Year (FY) 2005, the WO-800 Directorate tracked these priorities and actions with the managers in the BLM National Business Center and the Management Systems, Property, Acquisition and Headquarters Services, and Budget Groups. Overall, the WO-800 Directorate made great progress in completing the priorities laid out in the Business and Fiscal Resources (WO-800) FY 2005 Action Plan in Attachment 1. Our efforts focused on making improvements in five areas that our customers identified, as follows:

 

(1)  improving formal and informal communications, including more effective use of the Directives System;

 

(2)  coordination across Directorates and with States;

 

(3)  maintaining a strategic approach;

 

(4) clarifying roles and responsibilities; and

 

(5) building and maintaining capacity to provide services.

 

For FY 2006, the WO-800 Directorate is focusing on improving the quality and timeliness of service provided to the States and other Directorates. The priority Fiscal Year 2006 Business and Fiscal Resources Priorities and Goals are listed in Attachment 2.
