Subject:       Rangeland Management Workshop

 

Program Area:  Rangeland Management (1020) Program.  

 

Purpose/Background:  The Washington Office is hosting a workshop to focus primarily on four important topics: 1) efficient and consistent implementation of the new grazing rule, expected to be released in the next few months, 2) elimination of the backlog of unprocessed grazing permits, 3) policies and processes for land health assessments and evaluations, and 4) the purpose and objectives for the national monitoring strategy and pilot monitoring efforts (refer to attached agenda).  A list of expected participants is also attached.

 

The workshop will take place in the Oregon Room at the National Training Center (NTC).

 

Lodging has been reserved at Homewood Suites, 2536 W. Beryl Ave, Phoenix, AZ (adjacent to I-17 near Peoria Avenue).  Participants needed to have made reservations by December 23, 2005 (an advance e-mail was sent to participants regarding reservations).  Call 602-674-8900, and make the reservation under “National Range Meeting.”  Rates are $122/day plus tax.   

 

Time Frame:  January 17 (1 pm) – January 19 (5 pm), 2006.  

 

Budget Impact:  NTC will provide the room for the workshop.  Participants will need to cover travel and per diem.

Coordination:  Agenda topics have been coordinated with WO 230 and WO 880.
