Subject:       Announcement of National Gap Analysis Conference and Interagency Symposium – December 6-8, 2005

 

The purpose of this Information Bulletin is to alert Bureau of Land Management (BLM) resource specialists, program managers, and other interested Bureau personnel to the announcement of the National Gap Analysis Conference and Interagency Symposium to be held in Reno, Nevada, December 6-8, 2005. 

 

The Southwest Regional Gap Analysis Project (SWReGAP) of which the Bureau has funded and supported, will formally be released at this interagency symposium. Information will be presented in a variety of presentations, papers, and poster sessions. A Call for Papers, and request for presentations by the BLM users has been announced. The USGS Gap Analysis Program website has a site dedicated to this announcement: http://www.gap.uidaho.edu/Meetings/2005/default.htm and contains information regarding the Call for Papers, Registration, and the agenda for the conference. 

 

The forthcoming Northwest Regional Gap Analysis Project (NWReGAP) progress will also be covered at this symposium. The SWReGAP and NWReGAP will provide 10 of the 12 BLM States with seamless landcover, animal habitat modeling, land stewardship, and accompanying gap analysis to facilitate conservation needs to land management activities.
