EMS TRANSMISSION 10/25/2005 Information Bulletin No. 2006-008 To: All SDs Attn: Volunteer Coordinators From: Group Manager, Environmental Education & Volunteers Subject: 2004 Volunteer Annual Report and Volunteer Program Posters The Environmental Education & Volunteers Group is pleased to announce the availability of several publications that should be useful in promoting the BLM Volunteer Program. Volunteer Coordinators will be receiving: · BLM’s 2004 Volunteer Annual Report, which presents profiles of outstanding projects and events as well as statistical information from State and Center Volunteer Programs for Fiscal Year 2004. The report underscores the value of cooperative conservation and the important role of volunteers in caring for public lands. The Volunteer Annual Report can be used to convey this message to internal and external audiences, and coordinators are encouraged to distribute copies to field offices, program managers, volunteers, and partners. · A series of posters designed to promote the use of volunteers to an internal (BLM) audience. Produced in accordance with BLM’s 2004 National Volunteer Program Strategy (Goal 4, Action 4), the posters reflect different BLM program areas in which volunteers can make a substantial contribution. They are designed to be displayed in common areas, such as lunchrooms, copy rooms, etc. Coordinators should distribute copies of the posters to State Program leads so that they can inform their field office staff of the posters’ availability. In addition, coordinators are encouraged to send copies of the posters to field office volunteer coordinators. Both groups should be advised that the posters are available from the Printed Materials Distribution Services in Denver. Thumbnails of the posters, including their product numbers and relevant program areas, will soon be posted on the EE&V Group’s Intranet site. Thanks to all who contributed information for the Volunteer Annual Report and thanks also to the Publications Staff in Denver for their creative contributions to these publications.
