National Public Lands Day 2000
BLM'ers Win NPLD Photo Contests
Jerry Sintz of the BLM Utah State Office took top honors in the NPLD "agency personnel" contest, which made his photo eligible for use as the NPLD 2001 art poster photo. Though Jerry's beautiful image of a lone person in Utah's Sids Mountain Wilderness Study Area (right) was not ultimately chosen for the next poster, it will be used in national promotional materials for NPLD 2001. NPLD volunteers (That could mean YOU) are eligible to compete in the photo contest sponsored by the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation. The next National Public Lands Day will be September 29, 2001.
In December, the National Environmental Education & Training Foundation announced the selection of two
BLM employees as winners of two National Public Lands Day 2000 photography contests.
Faye Winters of the Jackson District Office (Eastern States) took first place in the "volunteers in action" contest for her endearing shot of a girl planting a mangrove seedling at Florida's Jupiter Inlet Natural Area (left).
