Water Turned Off at Little Sahara Visitor Center

Fillmore, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management Utah and the Little Sahara Recreation Area would like to inform the public that the water supply at the Little Sahara Recreation Area campgrounds has been turned off for the season due to a broken water main and will remain off for the winter. Weather permitting, the water supply will be turned back on by Easter weekend.

Little Sahara Recreation Area Visitor Passes on Sale November 2

Fillmore, Utah—The 2010 annual passes for Little Sahara Recreation Area will go on sale beginning Nov. 2, 2009. The cost of the first vehicle pass is $75. Additional vehicle passes are available for $50.

BLM Holiday Tree Cutting Permits Available

Vernal, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - Vernal Field Office will begin selling Christmas tree cutting permits on November 18. The pinion pine and juniper tree tags are $10 each this year with one permit allowed per household. An individual may purchase up to five tags, but must provide the name and address of each person for which the tags are being purchased.

Bureau of Land Management Offers Reward for Illegal Dumping Information

Salt Lake City, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management Utah, West Desert District is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the party responsible for illegally dumping 18 television and computer monitors and large pieces of furniture on BLM-administered lands in Tooele County.

BLM Prescribed Burn Planned in Tooele County

Salt Lake City, Utah—Fire officials at the West Desert Fire Zone of the Bureau of Land Management are planning a prescribed burn in southern Tooele County the week of October 5, 2009. Recent wet weather combined with the forecast of a warming and drying trend will allow a low to moderate intensity burn to achieve the desired burning objectives. West Desert fire officials have been planning these burns for months to ensure for a safe, well-executed burn using local data, professional experience and technology.

Cedar City, Utah—On September 26, 2009 the Bureau of Land Management Cedar City Field Office and Iron County have partnered to offer the public a special volunteer opportunity to contribute to improvements at the Three Peaks Recreation area, a recreation site cooperatively managed by the two entities. This year’s National Public Lands Day-Helping Hands for America’s Public Lands will lend to a variety of volunteer opportunities from clean up at the recreation area and the building of ten new campsites to installing fire rings at the Three Peaks large group campground.
