17th Annual Utah Wild Horse & Burro Festival
Legacy Events Center, June 5-6, 2015
WELCOME and THANK YOU for your interest in the 17th Annual Utah Wild Horse and Burro Festival. The festival begins Friday, June 5 at 12:000 noon and runs through Saturday, June 6. Performance classes begin at 12:00 noon on Friday and on Saturday the Youth and Mustang (YAM) Freestyle will begin at 8:30 a.m. with performance classes starting at 11:00 a.m.
The primary goal of this horse show is to learn and have fun. Another goal is to give you the opportunity to demonstrate what a wild horse can accomplish when given proper care and training. This is a BLM/Volunteer wild horse, burro and mule show requiring all animals to have a US BLM Freeze Mark and proof of Certificate of Title or Adoption Papers.
New this Year: There are a few changes this year:
1. Early Start Time – This year’s show will begin on Friday at 12:00 noon!!
2. Show Schedule – Several new classes have been added.
3. Youth Classes – Youth will be able to compete in youth classes for only $2.50 per class.
Healthy Horse and Burro: We want everyone to be comfortable knowing they are in the company of healthy horses. A current Coggins test and Health certificate are NOT required for in-state travel; however, for those coming from another state, The State of Utah requires a current Coggins Test and Health Certificate.
Adoption: Twelve Youth and Mustang horses will be showcased in this year’s festival and available for adoption. All YAM horses will be available for adoption on Saturday, June 6th @ 10:00 a.m., immediately following the YAM Freestyle. We are very excited to be hosting this year’s Festival at such an outstanding facility. Our show will be held in the impressive 2,200 seat, 52,000 square foot temperature-controlled equestrian arena. A large parking area is available for overnight stays. RV hookups with power and water are available for $25.00 a night with a dump station on-site. Reminder: the Legacy Events Center does not allow any animals to be tied to trailers overnight in the parking areas.
You must use the facility stalls for overnight boarding. See stall information below. For more information about the facility, visit: http://www.legacyeventscenter.com/
Stalls: All animals that remain overnight are required to be in a rented stall. Events center personnel will be conducting a pre-dark compliance inspection to enforce this rule. Only one animal per stall will be allowed. The bedded stalls will be provided for $15.00 per night. Additional bedding can be purchased from the events center office. You will be given a name plaque for each stall to depict the name of the owner and horse/burro information.
Awards: A variety of awards will be awarded along with special high-point prizes. Awards will need to be picked up at the show.
Lodging: There are numerous hotels nearby along I-15.
Warm-up Time: Included in your registration fee is use of the arena. Arena warm-up will be Friday, June 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and Saturday, June 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Patterns: Please Note - All Patterns Are Subject to Change. Normally, trail patterns are not provided prior to the show. However, we want to offer everyone an opportunity to prepare and have fun, so some preliminary show patterns are included in your registration packet. There might be some modifications depending on the judge, just to keep you guessing.
Stallions/Intact Jacks: Stallions and Intact Jacks are allowed to participate in the show as long as their handler is 18 years or older. If at any time the stallion or “intact” Jack becomes disobedient, the Committee reserves the right to remove the animal and handler from the show without being liable for compensation or damages.
We can always use extra help with the gates, barns, parking, etc. If interested, please call Rissa Woods at 435-841-4471 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Pets: For safety reasons, we ask that you please not bring pets into the indoor arena.
