Salt Lake City, Utah—August 15, 2007—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public input on the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement that will analyze the proposed UNEV Pipeline project.  UNEV Pipeline, LLC is proposing to construct and operate a 400- mile, 12 inch petroleum products pipeline that would originate near the refineries in Woods Cross, Utah with terminals near Cedar City, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada.  The pipeline would, except for the northern most portion of the route, generally follow the existing Kern River pipeline corridor.  The pipeline inlet would be located near Holly Corporation’s Woods Cross, Utah refinery, which announced last year its intent to upgrade its crude oil processing capabilities.  The terminals would be located near Apex, Nevada and Cedar City, Utah.  The pump stations would be located at the beginning of the pipeline in Davis County and near the pipeline midpoint in Millard County, Utah.

The Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement was published in the Federal Register on August 9, 2007 to begin the formal scoping process. The BLM is seeking ideas and information from the public and will actively seek information until the scoping period ends on September 10, 2007. The BLM has scheduled five open houses, four in Utah and one in Nevada.  Interested members of the public are invited to attend.  The purpose of the open houses is to provide information and solicit public comments on the proposed project, alternatives, and resource issues.  The open houses will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at each location.  Dates and locations are set for:

• Wednesday, August 22, Hampton Inn, 307 North Admiral Byrd Road, Salt Lake City, Utah
• Thursday, August 23, 2007, Tooele Senior Citizens Center, 59 East Vine, Tooele, Utah
