Mule Canyon Archaeological Ruins

Mule Canyon

What To See And Do: Well preserved Pueblo surface ruins found at this site are over 700 years old. The ruin complex includes above-ground and underground dwellings: a kiva and tower which have been excavated and stabilized as well as a block of twelve rooms. The BLM has constructed a canopy to protect the kiva. Interpretive signing and vault toilets are provided. The site is handicapped accessible and well signed on the highway. The site is open year round and there is no admission fee.

How To Get There: The Mule Canyon Ruin site is located about 20 miles south of Blanding, UT. It may be accessed from highway 95. Look for the graded county road (SJ 263) on the north side of the highway, approximately 19 miles west of the intersection of routes 95 and 191. Go up the county road about 1/4 mile and park.

Contact Information: For more information, contact BLM Monticello Field Office, 435 North Main, PO Box 7, Monticello, Utah 84535. Telephone: 435-587-2144.
