In an effort to establish a standard for the quality and format of digital data, the Utah BLM has created a set of standards to be followed when conducting archaeological investigations on BLM lands. The standards address various aspects of data acquisition and data submission with the intent of reducing confusion and creating consistency among archeologists working throughout the state. The Utah BLM Data Standards, June 2011 is a final draft and is effective immediately. The 2011 field season will serve as a "trial run" of the standards and will be subject to review this fall. As you conduct field work and submit data this field season, please pay close attention to any discrepancies or flaws you may encounter when implementing the standards. If you find there is anything we could improve upon or if you have any questions regarding the document, please let us know so we can make any adjustments before incorporating the standards into BLM policies. We appreciate your efforts and input.
