Jim Madsen Passes Away at Age 77

Jim Madsen passed away on November 28, 2009 at the age of 77. Madsen was Utah's first state paleontologist and an important part of BLM's Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry.

While spending much of his career excavating and researching at the Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, Madsen became a world renowned expert on carnivorous dinosaurs, specifically Allosaurus . " Allosaurus fragilis : A revised osteology" is one of Madsen's most revered and famed publications.

The BLM would like to thank Jim Madsen for his contributions to the Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry as well as his passion and dedication to the field of vertebrate paleontology.
