Conceptual Mining and Reclamation Sequence
The proposed mining and reclamation process would take place in about 7 steps. Steps 1 and 2 would occur only once to start the mining process. Steps 3 through 7 would be continually repeated to complete the mining process on the entire tract. These 7 steps would take approximately 10 months to complete.
The image links to the right show the general sequence of the mining and reclamation. Mined pits would be concurrently filled using material removed to createfrom adjacent pits. Once the pits are filled, the area would be reclaimed (topsoil would band revegetated) as the mining of other adjacent pits continues.
In the start up process, which includes the EODA (Pits 1 and 2), approximately 85 acres would be disturbed. As the process continues, mining and reclamation would occur concurrently on adjacent parcels and no more than approximately 120 acres of land would likely be disturbed at any one time. The size of the disturbed area would vary depending upon topography and accessibility of the coal seam.
