BLM Seeks Comment on Environmental Assessments for November Oil and Gas Lease Sale

SALT LAKE CITY—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Green River District is seeking public comment on two environmental assessments (EA) analyzing the BLM’s proposal to offer a total of 74,998 acres comprised of 70 parcels at the November 2014 oil and gas lease sale.  The Vernal Field Office proposes to offer 41,090 acres comprised of 41 parcels; the Price Field Office proposes to offer 33,908 acres comprised of 29 parcels.

Additional information about the proposed parcels is included in the EAs, which are now available for public review and comment.

An electronic copy of the Vernal EA can be found on line at: https://www.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/nepa/nepa_register.do.

From the drop down menus select:  Utah under state; UT-Vernal FO under office; EA under document type; 2014 under fiscal year; and All under programs, then scan the list for DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2014-0093-EA or Vernal November 2014 Lease Sale.

An electronic copy of the Price EA can be found online at: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/prog/energy/oil_and_gas/oil_and_gas_lease.html.

Hard copies of both EAs can be obtained in person at the BLM-Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City.  Hard copies of the Vernal Field Office EA can be obtained at the Vernal Field Office, 170 South 500 East, Vernal, Utah; hard copies of the Price Field Office EA can be obtained at the Price Field Office, 125 South 600 West, Price, Utah.

The public review and comment period closes at 4:30 p.m. on July 14, 2014.  Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action or contain new technical or scientific information.  Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.  Please reference the "November 2014 Oil and Gas Lease Sale" when submitting comments.
