Grand Opening Celebration at Three Peaks Model Port Field

Cedar City, Utah— In observance of National Model Aviation Day, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cedar City Field Office, Iron County and the Cedar City Radio Control Club (CCRCC) invite the public to a grand opening celebration for the new Radio Control Flying Field at Three Peaks Recreation Area on August 17, 2013. National Model Aviation Day recognizes the history of model aviation with clubs and other organizations throughout the nation.

Beginning at 8 a.m., the airfield will be available for fly-ins. The grand opening ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and includes a brief program with the Civil Air Patrol presenting a color guard demonstration. A ribbon cutting with a radio-controlled plane concludes the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, the CCRCC will continue the festivities with a variety of model aeronautics activities including buddy-box flying, which allows attendees the opportunity to fly some incredible model planes with assistance from a club member.

The club also plans to host a fundraiser, selling food and other items. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warriors project.

Come join in the fun and support a worthwhile cause. For additional information about this event, contact Mike Berg at 435-704-1900 or Dave Jacobson at 435-865-3010.
