BLM Utah Posts List of Proposed Parcels for Utah Competitive Geothermal Lease Sale


Salt Lake City, Utah—To help meet the nation's renewable energy goals, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah will conduct a geothermal lease sale in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010.

The BLM Utah has posted the proposed list of parcels for the competitive geothermal lease sale.  The list of proposed parcels is comprised of 17 parcels totaling 60,320 acres located in the Fillmore Field Office.

A detailed notice of the lease sale, parcel descriptions, acreage, lease terms and conditions, oral bidding procedures and requirements, and other pertinent sale information is available online at:

The competitive oral auction will take place at the BLM Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101.  Potential bidders may register and obtain a bid number starting at 9:30 a.m., and the competitive oral auction will begin at 11 a.m



The BLM manages more land - over 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
