BLM Utah Posts List of Proposed Parcels for Utah Competitive Quarterly Oil and Gas Lease Sale
Salt Lake City, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management Utah has posted the proposed list of parcels for the quarterly competitive oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in Salt Lake City. The list of proposed parcels includes four parcels totaling 4,402 acres. Posting the list of proposed parcels initiates a 30-day public protest period.
The four parcels are located in two BLM Utah Field Offices—Cedar City and Fillmore. Three parcels totaling 3,923 are located in the Cedar City Field Office, and one parcel totaling 478 acres is located in the Fillmore Field Office.

The competitive oral auction will take place at the BLM Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101. Potential bidders may register and obtain a bid number starting at 7:45, and the competitive oral auction will begin at 9 a.m.
The BLM manages more land - over 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
