Richfield, Utah—Christmas tree permits are now available at the Richfield Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Field Office for $10.00 per tree. Permits may be purchased Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are also available at the BLM office in Hanksville. Only one permit may be sold per person, although multiple permits may be sold to one person who is purchasing on behalf of other family members. Christmas tree permits are for personal use only, and may not be resold. Permits that are sold by the BLM are valid on BLM public lands only. Permits authorize the harvesting of pinyon pine and juniper trees only, and trees of any size may be harvested. Trees may not be cut within 100 feet of a maintained road or within a Wilderness Study Area (WSA). WSAs within the public lands managed by the Richfield Field Office are located near Capitol Reef National Park and in the Henry Mountains. Maps of these areas are available upon request. Travel on BLM-managed lands may be difficult in a low-clearance vehicle. Four-wheel drive is recommended. The BLM urges all visitors to exercise caution, and always check current travel conditions before enjoying public lands. |

The BLM manages more land - over 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
