BLM Announces Public Comment Period Extension for Environmental Assessment on Access Roads and 8” Buried PipelinesContact: Stephanie Howard (435) 781-4469 Vernal, Utah—May 7, 2008—The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office announces the extension of the Access Roads and 8” Buried Pipelines Environmental Assessment (EA) public comment period through June 5, 2008. The EA describes the potential impacts of the proposal to construct 600 feet of new roads and pipelines to service four proposed wells on their State of Utah mineral lease. The project would total approximately 0.6 acre of surface disturbance on BLM’s Wild Horse Bench. A compact disk or hard copy of the document can be obtained from the field office. The document is also online at http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/vernal/planning.html. The public is encouraged to submit comments on this EA. Comments should be as specific as possible, with references to page numbers and chapters. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but will be considered as part of the BLM decision-making process. Please refer to “XTO EA” on all correspondence. Written comments will be accepted by fax, email, or letter through June 5, 2008. Be aware that entire comments – including personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While requests can be made to withhold personal identifying information from public review, it cannot be guaranteed. BLM will not consider anonymous comments.
