The Vernal Field Office offers wood and stone permits for personal and commercial use.  Please contact us at (435)781-4400 for more information or visit us at 170 South 500 East in Vernal, Utah to obtain a permit.  We have posted maps to the wood cutting areas below, but please know that taking wood and stone without a permit brings penalties and fines.

Wood Gathering Permits
Permits are $5.00 per cord with a two cord minimum and a five cord maximum.
There is a 10% road maintenance fee.
Juniper and pinyon trees only.

Stone Gathering Permits

Permits are $22.00 per ton with a 1 ton minimum and a 3 ton maximum. There is a $3 material site reclamation fee/ton. This is for personal use only. If you are interested in over 3 tons, you will need to consult with the staff Geologists.

There are two collection areas are in Duchesne County:

• West Wrinkles T11S, R15E, Section 15 & 22, NW1/4, N2NE,SWNE & NWSE
• Buck Canyon T12S, R21E, Section 35.
