East Cinder Knoll Trail

Recommended Users: Mountain Bikers, Hikers, Equestrians
Type: Two-track
Length: 0.62 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Sub-Area: Hurricane Cinder Knolls
Zone: Upland
Managing Agency:  BLM
Access:  From I-15 Exit 16 travel west on State Route 9 for 9.2 miles. Turn left on 200 West for 0.6 miles. Turn left at 600 North and travel 0.5 miles. Park in the large disturbed area on the right, making sure not to block vehicle access on the numerous roads throughout the site. This parking area is on private property and subject to closure at any time.
Description: At the stepover, turn right and follow the fence line until reaching an old two-track. The trail quickly becomes very steep with loose rocks as it ascends the cinder cone. Once on top, the trail levels out and provides a great vantage point for views of the surrounding area.  The Virgin River can be seen winding through the black basalt canyon far below, and the farm lands stand out in front of red rock plateaus. A relatively short trail, it offers plenty of photo opportunities as well as a good chance to spot hawks and other birds.
