Equestrian Trails

Riding a horse in Southwest Utah desert is like taking a trip back in time to the Old West. Riding opportunities are abundant, and can range from a short, easy, close to town jaunts to long, demanding backcountry trail rides. Horses are restricted to designated trails in the lowland portion of the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve and in the Santa Clara River Reserve. Please stay on trails and follow the principles of Leave No Trace

Our desert environment can be pleasant in the popular spring and fall months, tolerable in the winter, and brutally hot in the summer. Riders should carry water, food, clothing, and tools and be prepared for changing weather, riding conditions, and accidents. Many trails travel through remote country, but cell phone coverage is generally good throughout the area.  Please Know Before You Go.

A comprehensive list of equestrian trails with complete trail descriptions can be found in the Equestrian Trails List.
