Eagle Scout Organizes Santa Clara Cleanup

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, the Cove Wash area, just south of the City of Santa Clara, got a much needed cleanup, thanks to Logan Wrigley and his team of volunteers. The area is popular with target shooters and the “target trash” being left behind was unsightly.

“When it came time to decide on an Eagle Scout project, I recognized that this would be a great project. It would be pretty simple to organize, but would make a big and immediate difference,” Logan said.

Twenty seven volunteers joined Logan early Saturday morning, collecting shooting debris, loading abandoned furniture, and hauling out household garbage, most of which was riddled with bullet holes..

BLM St. George Field Office Manager, Jimmy Tyree, participated in the cleanup and was impressed with Logan’s organization skills, work ethic, and his desire to keep the area clean. “Logan and his volunteers gave up their Saturday,” said Tyree. “It was a beautiful fall day and they spent it cleaning up public lands. The BLM St. George Field Office is lucky to have volunteers like this.”
