Red Bluff ACEC

Dwarf Bearclaw Poppy in the Red Bluff Area of Environmental ConcernThis area is located south and west of St. George, Utah. The ACEC contains populations and habitat for the dwarf bearclaw poppy, a small native plant found only in Washington County and listed as an endangered species under the federal Endangered Species Act.   These native plants and their habitat are at risk from unauthorized Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) motorized travel, unauthorized road proliferation, human encroachment from adjacent urban areas, and continued pressure for additional land transfers to accommodate community growth and development.
