Fremont Gorge Trail

Fremont Gorge Trail

A long watery hike along Freemont River on the west side of Capitol Reef National Park, where the Fremont River flows through canyons several hundred feet deep and has waterfalls, long pools and some narrowish sections.

The trail head for Fremont Gorge is located by the side of UT Highway 12, where the river crosses the highway, about 2 miles south of Torrey. The trail is approximately 5 miles long, not maintained and unsigned. The trail fades out before it reaches Capitol Reef National Park, but with some bushwachking, the more adventurous can reach the National Park Service facilities.
