How to Get There: The Lower Onion Creek Group Campsite is located approximately 23 miles east of Moab, Utah. Travel on Utah Highway 128 to a sign that says “Fisher Towers”. The Lower Onion Creek Road is directly opposite the Fisher Towers road. Turn north (toward the river) onto the Lower Onion Creek Road. There is no sign marking this road. (Note: the sign on the highway that says “Onion Creek” does NOT mark the road that you want.) Travel on this graded road toward the river; the group site is located at the end of the road.
Facilities: There is one group campsite at Lower Onion Creek. This reservable campsite has one fire grill and a wooden-surround vault toilet. All campers must carry out all trash. The closest trash dumpster is located at Hittle Bottom Campground, which is two miles to the east on Utah Highway 128. A dumpster is also available at Big Bend Campground, which is 13 miles to the west on Utah Highway 128. Drinking water is not available at the site, however it is available at Lions Park, which is at the intersection of Highways 191 and 128 two miles north of Moab. The water is located by the pedestrian bridge dedication plaque.
Site Size: The site accommodates up to 40 people. There is a minimum group size of 15 people.
Fees: The fee for group camping is $2.50 per person per night. There is a $15.00 reservation fee. Any changes to the location or date of a group site reservation will require an additional $15.00 fee. You must pay for the minimum number of people listed for the site you are reserving. All fees are nonrefundable.
