How to Get There: From Moab, travel 5 miles north on U.S. Highway 191. Turn left (west) on Utah Highway 279 and drive 10 miles. Turn left into the Gold Bar Recreation Site. The group sites are located adjacent to the Colorado River. (If you are traveling south on U.S. Highway 191, turn right onto Utah Highway 279 just past the entrance to Arches National Park.)
Facilities: There are four group campsites at the Gold Bar Recreation Site, all of which have picnic tables and fire rings, and are adjacent to double vault toilets. Ample parking is available for even the largest recreational vehicles. Drinking water is not available at the sites, however it is available at Lions Park, which is at the intersection of Highways 191 and 128 two miles north of Moab. The water is located by the pedestrian bridge dedication plaque. A boat ramp is available for canoe and raft use of the Colorado River. Sites A, B, and C each have a shade shelter and a stand-up grill, and offer walk-in tent camping with vehicle parking immediately outside the site. There are no shade shelters at site D, but RVs can drive up to the actual site.
Site Size: Group Sites A, B, and D each accommodate from 15 to 30 people. Group Site C accommodates from 30 to 90 people. It is possible to reserve all 4 sites, which allows for a maximum group size of 180 people. There is ample parking for as many vehicles as necessary.
