Gold Bar Reservable Group Campsites

Gold Bar Group Site  Gold Bar Group Site  Gold Bar Group Site

There are four group campsites at Gold Bar.  Group Sites A, B, and D each accommodate from 15 to 30 people. Group Site C accommodates from 30 to 90 people. It is possible to reserve all four sites, which allows for a maximum group size of 180 people. There is ample parking for as many vehicles as necessary.

The Gold Bar Recreation Site is located on a sweeping curve in the Colorado River, just 14 miles from the town of Moab. The campground offers stunning views both up and down the river corridor. Sunset is particularly striking at Gold Bar, as the Navajo Sandstone cliffs surrounding the campground change color as darkness falls. Campers can hike to Corona Arch (see above photo) right from the campground. This 90 x 140 foot arch rivals any in Arches National Park.

How to Get There: From Moab, travel 5 miles north on U.S. Highway 191. Turn left (west) on Utah Highway 279 and drive 10 miles. Turn left into the Gold Bar Recreation Site. The group sites are located adjacent to the Colorado River. (If you are traveling south on U.S. Highway 191, turn right onto Utah Highway 279 just past the entrance to Arches National Park.)

Facilities: There are 4 group campsites at the Gold Bar Recreation Site, all of which have picnic tables and fire rings, and are adjacent to double vault toilets. Ample parking is available for even the largest recreational vehicles. There is no drinking water on site. Untreated (but tested) water is available at Matrimony Spring, located just east of U.S. Highway 191 on Utah Highway 128. A boat ramp is available for canoe and raft use of the Colorado River. Sites A, B, and C each have a shade shelter and a stand-up grill, and offer walk-in tent camping with vehicle parking immediately outside the site. Site D allows RVs to drive up to the actual site.

Site Size: Group Sites A, B, and D each accommodate from 15 to 30 people. Group Site C accommodates from 30 to 90 people. It is possible to reserve all 4 sites, which allows for a maximum group size of 180 people. There is ample parking for as many vehicles as necessary.

Fees:
The fee for group camping is $3.00 per person per night for the sites that have shade shelters, and $2.50 per person per night for the sites that do not have shade shelters.  There is a $10.00 reservation fee.  Any changes to the location or date of a group site reservation will require an additional $10.00 fee. You must pay for the minimum number of people listed for the site you are reserving.  Gold Bar Group Sites A, B and C have shade shelters, so the cost per person is $3.00 for those sites.  Gold Bar Group Site D does not have shade shelters so the cost per person for that site is $2.50.
