Campgrounds Close to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks

Having Difficulty Reserving or Obtaining a National Park Campsite Near Moab? Explore this page to learn about other public campgrounds.

Planning on camping in Arches or Canyonlands National Park?  If you are unable to make a reservation or otherwise obtain a National Park campsite, there are numerous other camping opportunities near the parks.  These campgrounds are managed by the USDI Bureau of Land Management and Utah State Parks. 

BLM Camping Opportunities near Arches and Canyonlands National Parks

Individual sites at Moab area BLM campgrounds do not operate on an advance reservation system and are available on a first-come first-served basis. BLM operates over 400 sites at 25 campgrounds in the Moab area. The fees are $10 or $15 per night depending upon site type.  Many of these campsites are located along the Colorado River north of Moab. Refer to the map below to learn more about these campsites and their locations. In addition, the BLM operates 26 group campsites on an advance reservation system.

Camping Opportunities at Dead Horse Point State Park

The Kayenta Campground is open year-round.  There are 21 sites.  Sites are $20 per night with a $10.25 per visit reservation fee. Dead Horse Point also offers one group site for ten or more people which may be reserved in advance.

Camping in the Moab Area

Canyonlands National Park, Needles District Camping

Squaw Flat Campground has 26 sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bathrooms, fire grates, picnic tables, tent pads and water are available year-round. Group size limit is 10 people and 2 vehicles. Maximum RV length is 28 feet. Fee is $15 per night. Squaw Flat typically fills every day from late March through June and again from early September to mid-October.

The Needles District also offers three campsites for groups of 11 or more people which may be reserved in advance.


Arches National Park Camping

The Devils Garden Campground has 50 individual sites which are $20 per night and will accommodate up to ten people.  These sites may be reserved for nights between March 1st and October 31st.  Reservations must be made no less than four days and no more than 180 days in advance. There is an additional $9 booking fee for reservations.  During the winter months (November 1st to February 28th) sites 1 - 24 are available on a self-serve basis at the campground.  

Devil's Garden campground has two sites for groups of eleven or more people.  The Juniper Basin campsite will accommodate up to 55 people, the Canyon Wren campsite up to 35.  The group camping fee is $3 per person per night, with a $33 per night minimum.  No recreational vehicles or trailers are permitted in the group sites. The Canyon Wren group campsite may be reserved year-round.  Juniper Basin is available from March 1st to October 31st.  Reservations must be made no less than 4 days and no more than 360 days in advance.  There is an additional $9 booking fee for reservations. 

Telephone and on-line reservations for both group and individual sites may be made through www.recreation.gov, or call (877) 444-6777, (877) 833-6777 (TDD), or (518) 885-3639.  Reservations are not accepted by the park, and the park does not maintain information about site availability.

Canyonlands National Park, Island in the Sky District Camping

Willow Flat Campground is open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. There are twelve sites with tables, fire grills and vault toilets. Firewood and water are not available. Maximum group size is ten people, with a limit of two vehicles per group. Sites are $10 per night.
