Step 1: Review the Utah BLM Special Recreation Permit Process Handbook for general information on how to apply

Step 2: Call the Kanab Field Office at (435) 644-4600 and ask to speak to someone regarding Special Recreation Permits. A pre-application meeting will be held over the phone or in person. The pre-application meeting is the best time to discuss the feasibility of permitting your activity, the ins and outs of permit fees, and estimated processing time.

Step 3: Complete an application packet, which consists of:

Form 2930-1 - Special Recreation Permit Application and applicable attachments
Comprehensive Operating Plan (or similar form of your choice) and applicable attachments
Prepare a topographic map (preferably a 7.5-minute topo map) showing the area(s) of proposed use with routes, parking, staging areas, proposed improvements, etc.
for a Special Recreation Permit.

Step 4: Submit completed application packet to BLM Kanab Field Office, 318 North 100 East, Kanab, UT 84741.
