Southern Utah weather, wildlife and topography present unique recreation opportunities as well as hazards. Some of these include extreme heat, exposure, flash-flooding, rattlesnakes, insect bites or stings, etc. Know before you go! Become familiar with the area into which you are heading. Make note of short-range weather forecasts, current and predicted road conditions, and your own backcountry capabilities. Dress accordingly, carry plenty of water and sufficient food, and pack essential gear which may be needed in case of emergency.
