Establishment of the Monument Advisory Committee was a decision that came from the Monument Management Plan which was finalized in February 2000. Appointed by Secretary of the Interior, Gayle Norton, this 15 member citizen's committee represents a variety of communities of interest in the following categories: Kane and Garfield Counties, state government, education, ranching, outfitter/guides, archaeology, paleontology, geology, botany, wildlife biology, history, social science, systems ecology, and the environmental community.
