Special Recreation Management Areas

Special Recreation Management Areas are areas officially designated by statute or Secretarial order including components of the National Trails System; the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System; the National Wilderness System; National Conservation Areas, National Monuments, or National Recreation Areas; an area covered by joint agreement between the BLM and a State Government; or any area where the authorized officer determines that the resources require special management and control measures for their protection and a permit system for individual use would achieve management objectives.  Special areas can be designated by the State Director through Supplementary rules.   These areas within the Fillmore Field Office are the Little Sahara Recreation Area (sand dunes) and the Yuba Lake Recreation Area.
