World Extreme Rock Crawling and Endurance Racing
Comes to Cedar City!
On May 11-12, W.E. Rock Competitive Rock Crawling and Dirt Riot Endurance Racing came to Three Peaks Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) located nine miles northwest of Cedar City, Utah. Managed by Iron County and the BLM’s Cedar City Field Office, events at Three Peaks SRMA are authorized by a Special Recreation Permit.
Day one of the event began with rock crawlers experiencing the challenge of the large ‘bubbly rocks’ found at the Iron County Recreation and Public Purpose site. Later, competitors were given the opportunity to navigate and GPS one lap through the winding dirt roads and scattered boulders of the Dirt Riot course, to become familiar with turns and possible hazards before the next morning's endurance race.
The next day, Mother’s Day, brought excitement as the endurance race with Sportsman Class, UTV Class, Pro Class 4500-4600, and Pro Class 4400 competitors took off on the four mile dirt course. The goal was to complete as many laps as possible in one hour for the first event or three hours for the second event. Competitors race all season to earn their ranking in the Championship Series and this event was another opportunity to earn points for rank placement in the Southwest Series.
