Except for certain closed areas (such as Wilderness Study Areas), CCFO issues permits for the collection of dead (standing or down) firewood throughout the BLM administered lands in Iron and Beaver counties (link to forestry products map). Permits are also issued in limited areas for green pinyon, juniper, and oak. Burned areas may be opened to firewood harvest, but only after a one to two year reseeding and rehabilitation period. Both personal-use and commercial permits are available.
