Welcome to the Cedar City Field Office, Bureau of Land Management

The Cedar City Field Office (CCFO) is located in southwest Utah in the Great Basin region.  Characterized by vast acres of sagebrush and pinyon-juniper clad foothills, the region offers a variety of landscapes ranging from salt desert shrub flats to high mountains with riparian, aspen, and bristlecone pine communities.  Principal mountain ranges are the Minerals, the Wah Wahs, and the Indian Peak ranges.  The Field office is home to a variety of species including the greater sage grouse, the Utah prairie dog, the Southwest Desert Elk Herd, and the Sulphur Wild Horse Herd - a breed of horse noted by its distinct markings and Spanish genetics.

The Field Office is generally quite remote and offers a wide variety of dispersed recreation. The Parowan Gap, a deep, narrow gorge west of Summit, Utah, is renowned as a site of great importance to the Paiute Indians and others for many reasons, including the Fremont era petroglyphs etched on the canyon walls. The Cedar City Field Office manages approximately 2.2 million acres of public lands. In addition, the Cedar City office lends support services to other Southern Utah field offices in program areas including fire, Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation (ESR) fuels treatments and a host of other functions.
