WELCOME TO PUBLIC LAND STATISTICS 1999

Welcome to the 1999 edition of Public Land Statistics, published by U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management.  This year’s edition includes three new tables:  Table 2-10, Non-Fire Fuels Treatments; Table 3-32, Receipts from Mining Fees; and Table 5-12, Number and Size of Designated Special Management Areas.  In addition, a number of new graphs have been added to accompany Table 1-7, Cadastral Survey Actions Completed.  Also, the Glossary has been revised to include new definitions and to update definitions that were provided in previous Public Land Statistics editions.  Finally, formats and fonts have been changed slightly to make the tables easier to read and understand.

Note that the data presented in the 1999 Public Land Statistics tables may not exactly match the data in other BLM publications covering Fiscal Year 1999 operations and accomplishments.  This occurs because the databases that provide table data are not static; they are constantly being updated to provide the latest information, sometimes many months after the end of the fiscal year. We have presented the most current data available in this edition of Public Land Statistics.

Your feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.  We have included a comment card that you can cut out of the document, fold, and mail to our Headquarters Office.   Any comments you provide will be used to help make Public Land Statistics as responsive to your needs as possible.

We remain committed to publishing a Public Land Statistics each year that is timely, complete, and as helpful as possible to our readers.
