Abstract: 
This data set contains Oil and Gas Leases, derived from Legal Land Descriptions (LLD) contained in the US Bureau of Land Management's BLM LR2000 Case Recordation Database, and geocoded (mapped) using the Public Land Survey System (PLSS)/Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) derived from the most accurate survey data available through BLM Cadastral Survey workforce
Purpose: 
To identify Authorized and Pending Oil and Gas Leases.
Supplemental Information: 
Because Utah BLM geospatial editing access to the former "NILS" ArcSDE database has been terminated at WO direction, this dataset has been extracted from the NILS ArcSDE database and is currently being maintained in the Utah BLM State Office.

The information contained in these data is dynamic and may change over time. The data are not better than the original sources from which they were derived, and both scale and accuracy may vary across the data set.  These data may not have the accuracy, resolution, completeness, timeliness, or other characteristics appropriate for applications that potential users of the data may contemplate. The GIS data is created from the LR2000 data base monthly. Data is created using the most current GCDB data (Survey Grid) and the BLM LR2000 Case Recordation database legal land descriptions for "Authorized" and "Pending" oil and gas leases. New pending or authorized leases are identified using a dump of the BLM LR2000 Case Recordation case table and comparing to the existing attribute table from the Oil and Gas Lease Geodatabase.

The BLM LR2000 Case Recordation database is a relational database.  Three tables are utilized in the creation of the oil and gas lease geodatabase. They are the case table, the land table and the action table.  New pending and authorized oil and gas leases that are identified are constructed using "heads up" digitizing snapped to the most current GCDB data base.
