Description
Abstract
This dataset depicts the Wild Horse and Burro Herd Areas (HA)
which is the range of wild horse herds when the Wild Horse
and Burro Act was passed in 1971. The dataset consists of
multiple scales of data that vary from 1:24,000 to 1:250,000
scale data. This dataset was originally compiled on:
20010525 and called: WH_HA_UT. This dataset has been renamed
to follow the Utah BLM standard coverage naming convention and
USFS jurisditions for HMAs have been identified and attributed
appropriately.
Purpose
To identify wild horse and burro Herd Areas (HA).
Mandatory (where wild horses or burros existed in 1971).
The information has been input into GIS to help develop
activity plan objectives and for ecosystem management.
For site analysis and display at 1:250,000; For regional
analysis and display at 1:250,000; For use in planning
and land management.
Supplementary Information
Procedures_Used: Data was gathered from each Utah BLM Field
Office and reviewed by the Utah BLM Wild Horse Program Lead
and revised as necessary. The data was converted to a
standard attributing format.
Reviews_Applied_to_Data:
Digital sources were visually reviewed on-screen and
technical errors were identified and corrected in ArcInfo.

This data should never be used at a scale larger than
1:250,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as
accurate as the source from which they were obtained,
and may vary depending upon the date and method of acquisition.
This data is suitable for regional planning, management
decision support at intermediate scales, i.e. 1:250,000 or
smaller, and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable
for purposes of navigation. This data is not suitable for
analysis at scales larger than 1:250,000.
If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any
way, they are obligated to describe the types of
modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing
the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent USO
data sets nor to imply that any changes made were approved by
BLM USO.
