Abstract:

This data layer shows lands that were inventoried during the 1999 Utah Wilderness Inventory and were determined to have wilderness character or determined to lack wilderness character, but boundaries of the wilderness character areas have been modified from what is shown in wiinv1999_ut24. The boundary revisions stem partly from the fact that this layer has been vertically integrated with other wilderness-related layers, but are also due to inventory revisions resulting from public comments, the inclusion of acquired lands, the inclusion of wilderness character findings from subsequent review, and refining of the boundaries for planning purposes. This data layer is not complete. Revision to the 1999 Utah Wilderness Inventory is an ongoing process and data for Salt Lake, Fillmore, St. George and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument have not been revised except for vertical integration with other wilderness layers. This layer may also be updated by wilderness characteristics review findings

Purpose:

This data layer is generally used for planning and for consideration of case-by-case actions. There are no restrictions on its use.
