Project Vitals
Proposed Location: Imperial Valley, southwest of El Centro near the Mexican border.
Electricity Production Capacity: 140MW
Company: Campo Verde Solar, LLC
Acreage: 1,990 acres of private land
Status: Environmental Assessment pending.
Electrical Transmission Connection: A 230kV would leave Campo Verde, crossing 1 mile of BLM land and interconnecting with the Imperial Valley Substation.
Company's Expected Benefit: Generate enough electricity combined to power 42,000 homes and create much needed jobs, and generate tax revenue for the county and state
Public Comments
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comment on a proposed one-mile generation-interconnection (gen-tie) transmission line that would cross federal lands approximately eight miles southwest of El Centro, Calif. About 4/10 of the line would be on public land. Public comment on the proposed expansion will be accepted until May 13, 2012.
