<title>Trail Center seeks volunteers for National Public Lands Day</title>

Saturday is an admission-free day at the Visitors Center in observance of NPLD, normally held on the last Saturday of September. National Public Lands Day started 17 years ago with three sites and 700 volunteers. It has grown every year, and events across the nation last year included over 170,000 volunteers repairing trails, removing trash, restoring habitat and other similar projects.

<title>BLM to Analyze Effects of Herbicide Use on Public Lands in the Vale District-Scoping Reopened</title>

To address this issue, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently completed a Vegetation Treatment Using Herbicides on BLM Lands in Oregon Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) that addressed the use of up to17 herbicides in Oregon. These herbicides can be applied aerially in eastern Oregon, but may not be used for commercial timber enhancement or livestock forage production. However, because the ROD was a programmatic decision, specific projects must still undergo site-specific analysis and decision-making at the field level.
