I have a brilliant red head, bright yellow body, with black back, wings, and tail. Females have yellow-green above, yellow below and wing bars similar to male's.

You may find me in the Oak Savanna or Mixed Woodland communities on the Table Rocks.

My song is robin-like in its short fluty phrases but much hoarser. My call is a dry pit-r-ick.

I may lay three to five bluish-green, speckled eggs in a shallow saucer nest of woven rootlets, weed stalks, and bark strips, in the fork of a horizontal branch of Douglas fir, pine, or occasionally oak.
