I have diamond blotches on my back edged with narrow whitish lines. I have a wide, triangular head.

I like to live in the grasslands, rocky woodlands, and talus slopes on Table Rocks. In the winter, many of us may over winter together at a common den site. I am active April to October. When it is very hot I am crepuscular, or active at dusk and dawn, or nocturnal meaning active at night.

I prey chiefly on squirrels, other rodents, and rabbits. I locate prey with heat sensors. I am excitable and aggressive but will give you a warning by rattling my tail and holding ground. I will usually flee if given the chance.

Caution: Poisonous - Bites can be fatal.
