I am a small quick flying bird with dark, metallic, bronze-green back and an iridescent violet rump and tail. My tail is slightly forked and I am all white on my underside. I have a high dee-chip call or a series of varying tweet notes I give in flight.

During the spring and summer I live in the wooded foothills and cliff areas of Table Rocks. I feed on flying insects.

Like many other swallows, I live in colonies, because of my feeding needs. Where one of us finds food, there is usually enough for all. When feeding together, we can detect and defend ourselves from hawks.
