Who Owns and Manages the Table Rocks?
The Table Rocks are cooperatively owned and managed by the Medford District of the Bureau of Land Management, the Nature Conservancy, and the Rogue River Ranch.
Bureau of Land Management
The Table Rocks are managed by the Butte Falls Resource Area, within the Medford District BLM. In 1984 the BLM recognized the important natural and cultural resources of the area and designated 1,280 acres on Upper and Lower Table Rocks as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). This designation helps to protect the biologic, geologic, historic, and scenic values of the Table Rocks.
The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy is a private, non-profit, international organization, whose mission is to preserve the plants, animals, and plant communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the land and waters they need to survive. The Conservancy began protection efforts on Lower Table Rock in 1978, and currently manages 1,881 acres there.
