I am a small green hummingbird. Males have a dark rose-red crown and gorget and grayish chest. Females have a spotted throat with a patch of red spots. I have a sharp chip and a rapid chee-chee-chee-chee-chee call.

I live in the Chaparral and brushy oak woodlands on Table Rocks.

Like other hummingbirds, I vigorously defend my feeding territories that provide me with nectar and small nectar-feeding insects. I can lay two white eggs in a tiny woven cup of small twigs and lichen. I fasten my nest onto a sheltered horizontal limb.
